Thanks to the lovely Angie from Le Cordon Bleu for sending over these amazing photos taken by ©Lorrie Dallek ! Nina looks spectacular and we’re sure all the cast had so much fun and the food looks divine, especially that gorgeous cake!
On Saturday evening, January 14, 2012, friends and cast mates of The CW’s Vampire Diaries came together for a one-of-kind 23rd birthday party for Nina Dobrev at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta. The guests, including Ian Somerhalder, Steven McQueen, Candice Accola, Zach Roerig and Joseph Morgan learned how to prepare a delicious gourmet meal from Chef instructor Dan Harrar and President of Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta Dr. Glenn Mack consisting of:
· Hors d’oeuvre: Thai Chicken Satay Kebab
· Appetizer: Coconut Milk and Lemongrass Steamed Thai Mussels
· Salad: Seared Salmon and Tuna Salad with Avocado, Beets and Lemon Vinaigrette
· Dessert: Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream
As a special treat, Le Cordon Bleu also surprised Nina with an amazing Vampire Diaries inspired cake made of Devil’s Food with raspberry jam and butter cream. It looked like the actual diary from the show, complete with the mystical necklace Nina’s character wears. AMAZING <3

The holidays can wreak havoc on anyone’s waistline — unless that person is Nina Dobrev. When Us Weekly caught up with the 22-year-old Vampire Diaries star at the Ripple Effect charity dinner benefitting The Water Project in L.A. Saturday, Dobrev revealed her healthy motto: “It’s all about balance.”
“I love to do yoga,” the Canadian actress said. “I love to indulge and eat yummy things, but then I go to yoga and exercise.”
Dobrev admitted that she finds it hard to resist her favorite holiday fare, which includes turkey and brownies.
“I just did a fitting for my People’s Choice Awards dress and as they were altering it to fit me. I was like, ‘Take a couple of those pins out a few inches — leave a little room for the food!’” Dobrev joked.
When she isn’t noshing on her favorite holiday treats, Dobrev uses her Vitamix blender to make healthy shakes. “They’re delicious!” raved Dobrev. “They’re really, really good. and it’s healthy but it’s still a snack.”

This Halloween, see what’s really scary: every day, a child struggles to fight hunger. Join The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev and show your solidarity with families facing hunger in developing communities around the world and right here on our doorstep. By wearing Nina’s “Hunger Bites” Tee on October 31 and taking part in Free The Children’s Halloween for Hunger campaign, you join thousands who are making a statement about ending hunger. When you collect food bank donations in addition to candy as you trick-or-treat, you help stock food bank shelves for the winter season. And best yet, $10 from each T-shirt sold will go towards fighting hunger in East Africa as $10 feeds a child in East Africa for a month. The more shirts purchased, the more we can end hunger. Because let’s face it—hunger bites. And best yet, up to October 31st, $10 from each T-shirt sold will go towards fighting hunger in East Africa as $10 feeds a child in East Africa for a month.
“Having been to Kenya myself, I’ve seen the effects of hunger firsthand. It’s a serious issue both domestically and internationally that I’m very passionate about,” said Nina Dobrev. “No one should go hungry, and that’s why I’ve teamed up with Me to We Style to design the Hunger Bites T-shirt to give everyone the chance to help fight hunger and wear their support in style.”

We admit it: we use our addiction to The Vampire Diaries as an excuse to stay at home on Thursday nights- tonight included. But on Sunday night at the Emmy Awards, series star Nina Dobrev took over our TVs for a different reason- her showstopping Donna Karan dress- giving us a whole other reason to love her. On a rare day off, the 22-year-old actress fill us in about the show, her (other) TV favorites, and….oh yeah, that dress.
You were just in LA for the Emmys, and you film The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta. Where in the world is Nina right now?
I’m at my place in Atlanta. I had a rare day off, so I slept in and tried to rest up from all the Emmys craziness.
What do you do on your days off besides sleep?
They’re so few and far between that I usually just sleep! I slept like, 12 hours last night, which I rarely do because my brain will rarely cut off. But I try to cook and I usually have to study lines.
Let’s talk about your amazing Donna Karan Emmys dress. How did you pick it out?
Everything sort of fell together perfectly, which was awesome. I was working with a stylist who was amazing, but when I’m away in Atlanta, she has to send me photos of dresses in models and then I choose which ones I think will work. I always try to dress for the occasion. For Teen Choice Awards I do something a little more teen friendly, and for Emmys it’s a little more glam. It’s fun to dress up; award shows are like theme parties…or Halloween!
Who would you say is your style icon?
I’m a chameleon as a person and as an artist. The characters that I play and the events that I go to, you have to be a different person each time, so I have a different inspiration each time. One of them is Kate Beckinsale; she has great style because she’s always so classy and put together in a very clean way. Zoe Saldana takes a lot of risks, but is still very classy. I love Diana Agron, Emma Watson, Olivia Wilde, Emma Stone…they’re all so great.

For a character who doesn’t have parents or seem to attend school on a regular basis, The Vampire Diaries’ Elena has one of the richest, most exciting lives of anyone on television. Over the course of three days she’ll thwart ancient curses, witness close friends getting murdered, and attend at least four town-wide parties without taking so much as a nap. Add to that an even more intense (and awesome) evil doppelgänger, and actress Nina Dobrev‘s a pretty busy lady on set. As much as I may or may not make fun of Elena in my recaps, it’s never lost on me just how great Dobrev’s work is, so I was thrilled when she set aside a few minutes this week to talk about how she does what she does on such a regular basis.
A lot of horrible stuff has happened to Elena in a very short amount of time. How do you keep track of what her emotional state is supposed to be on any given day? Like do you have a flowchart or something?
Kind of, yeah. I keep a separate script for each of my characters. So Elena has her own script and Katherine has her own script. And I go through every script— A lot of preparation and time goes into breaking it down and charting the emotional range and what’s going on with each character, and then not only what’s going on with them in this episode but over the last season. You know, one person could die in one episode and then another person could die in another episode and then you have to incorporate that and put it into effect.
The timeline is so confusing to me— It’s never really clear how much time has gone by.
Well, we establish in—I think—the next episode that it’s been about a year since the show started.
Incredible.
So, the last two seasons have been one year. So each season then is about six months.

Vampire Diaries fans, mark your calendars for September 15. That’s The CW drama’s third-season premiere — and a special day for Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). “Our first episode is Elena’s 18th birthday,” spills exec producer Julie Plec. What’s in store for the birthday girl?
There will be a small time jump [from where last season ended] as we celebrate Elena’s birthday,” says Plec. “But as is the pattern in Mystic Falls, the event never reaches its climax.” Elena will now be a senior in high school, but don’t bank on a season-ending graduation.
Now that she’s 18, “Elena and Jeremy technically don’t need a parent living in their house [following Aunt Jenna's death],” says Plec. “She will be taking care of herself.”
On the romantic front, might the show now capitalize on the real-life romance of Nina and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and have their characters hook up? While Plec stresses she would never exploit her actors’ personal lives, she hints that “over the course of the season, Elena will be struggling with a deep, deep attraction toward Damon. That’s going to be a big problem for her.” As will Rebecca, a yet-to-be-cast vampire from Stefan’s “darkest ripper days who loves that Stefan’s back to his bad behavior.” She’s not the only one.

In recent years, movie stars have begun migrating to television, taking over shows like “Damages” (Glenn Close), “Nikita” (Shane West and Maggie Q) and “CSI” (Lawrence Fishburne). Which is cool, but their absence means there’s a gap in the movie world that someone needs to fill. Well, turnabout is fair play.
Here’s the deal: we’ve come up with a list of the 10 up-and-coming young television actors that we’d love to see become movie superstars. Your job is to review their qualifications and let us know via our amazing internet polling capabilities which of them you most want to see on the big screen. Because someone has to decide the future of Hollywood — and it might as well be you. Results will be announced on Monday, June 20.
Nina Dobrev
Age: 22
What They’re On: “The Vampire Diaries”
Why They’re Awesome: Can play both sweet and creepy — often at the same time.
What We See Them Doing On The Big Screen: Psychological thrillers and something lighthearted (she came from “Degrassi,” after all).
Stars Whose Path They Should Follow: Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne
Vote for Nina here! Thanks to Andie for the heads up!

“Vampire Diaries” star Nina Dobrev may be hanging up her leather jacket and Katherine fangs for the summer, but she’s not leaving teen angst behind. The 22-year-old actress recently signed on to play high school senior Candace in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” alongside Emma Watson and Logan Lerman. And as you can probably guess, we just had to get the scoop on the production when we sat down to chat with Nina yesterday.
“I get to Pittsburgh next week, and I start filming in about a week-and-a-half, two weeks,” Nina dished. And although she’s currently in the middle of reading the book, she told us that fans need not fret over whether the movie will closely reflect the source material. The script is really, really, really amazing and the cast. The fact that Stephen wrote the book, and he wrote the screenplay and he’s now directing, it’s going to be really good to see that because a lot of the time when a book is made into a film, a lot of the original fans are scared it’s going to be ruined. But when the visionary is the one who is going to see it is made the way he saw it and wants it to be seen, he’s going to play it true to the original.”
Nina has yet to meet co-star Emma, but she does go back (all the way to 2009!) with cutie pie Logan, who plays her brother in the film.
“I know Logan Lerman. We actually shot ‘The Vampire Diaries’ pilot when ‘Percy Jackson’ was shooting in Vancouver, so we all stayed in the same hotel,” she said. “He’s a great kid. He’s really talented. But I have not met Emma, or Paul [Rudd] or Mae [Whitman] or anyone else.”
Starring in a beloved YA adaptation and hanging out with Logan, Emma and Paul? Sounds like a pretty awesome summer to us!

The CW Network has given early pickups to five of its established series for next season, including network’s top-rated drama THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.
The CW’s bloodily addictive hit THE VAMPIRE DIARIES was also given an early renewal, and in its sophomore season, remains the network’s most-watched show (4.0 million viewers) and the network’s number-one show among its target audience of women 18-34 (2.9/9).
Not that we didn’t expected this but it’s so awesome! We’re really excited for the 3rd Season! Congrats to Nina and the rest of the cast & crew!

Aah this is os exciting! We’re so happy to hear we’re going to see our lovely Nina on the big screen! Congratulations gorgeous! We’re so excited to know more about the character you play! Read the report below:
EXCLUSIVE: As Deadline told you, Summit Entertainment post-Twilight Saga is continuing to bet heavily on books for its future franchises. Most are conducive to young casts. Now I can report that another young actress to watch is making the transition from TV to movies: CW’s The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has been cast as Candace in the film based on Stephen Chbosky’s novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which the author is adapting for Harry Potter’s Emma Watson and Logan Lerman as well as Paul Rudd. This was a much sought-after lead role. The 22-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress played Mia Jones, the single teenage mother, on Degrassi: The Next Generation, from the show’s 6th to 9th season. She currently plays Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries and won the “Young Hollywood Making Their Mark” category at the 12th Annual Young Hollywood Awards. (Disclosure: these awards are owned by my parent company PMC).
The production company Mr. Mudd, Touchstone Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures is developing a film adaptation of the novel, with Summit Entertainment to distribute the film. Mr. Mudd’s producers John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, and Russell Smith hired the novel’s author Stephen Chbosky to write an adapted screenplay and to direct the film. Filming is scheduled to begin in May 2011 in Pittsburgh.

Nina Dobrev is going a little crazy. The actress plays the dual roles of sweet, innocent Elena and evil, naughty vampire Katherine on the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” which finally will return Jan. 27 with a new episode. It’s a challenging job that at one point this season called for Dobrev to play opposite herself during a tense heart-to-heart between Elena and Katherine, as well as play Katherine during her human days in 1400s Bulgaria, Katherine masquerading as a Brit and Katherine as a newly made vampire all in one episode.
It’s not easy, and I think I’m slowly becoming a schizophrenic because of it,” Dobrev said during the CW’s Kick-Ass Women panel at the TCA Press Tour last week. At a cocktail party after the event, she spoke further with a small group of reporters, including Show Tracker, about getting to play two such diametrically opposed characters. Elena, I get to do a lot of emotional scenes. She goes through such a roller-coaster ride,” she said. “With Katherine, I just get to [mess] with everyone. I just get to play around and have fun and be bad and get away with things that all throughout my life I’ve been taught by my parents not to do. Now I get paid for it.
But it might not stop with Elena and Katherine. Could Dobrev be playing a third character at some point? “Hypothetically,” she said. “Because Katherine is the first doppelganger, that means there was one before her. So I guess we’ll what happens.” She’s up for the challenge too even though she’s got her hands “very full right now” with two roles. “I’m sure it would be interesting,” she said.
