Aah this is os exciting! We’re so happy to hear we’re going to see our lovely Nina on the big screen! Congratulations gorgeous! We’re so excited to know more about the character you play! Read the report below:

EXCLUSIVE: As Deadline told you, Summit Entertainment post-Twilight Saga is continuing to bet heavily on books for its future franchises. Most are conducive to young casts. Now I can report that another young actress to watch is making the transition from TV to movies: CW’s The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has been cast as Candace in the film based on Stephen Chbosky’s novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which the author is adapting for Harry Potter’s Emma Watson and Logan Lerman as well as Paul Rudd. This was a much sought-after lead role. The 22-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress played Mia Jones, the single teenage mother, on Degrassi: The Next Generation, from the show’s 6th to 9th season. She currently plays Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries and won the “Young Hollywood Making Their Mark” category at the 12th Annual Young Hollywood Awards. (Disclosure: these awards are owned by my parent company PMC).

The production company Mr. Mudd, Touchstone Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures is developing a film adaptation of the novel, with Summit Entertainment to distribute the film. Mr. Mudd’s producers John Malkovich, Lianne Halfon, and Russell Smith hired the novel’s author Stephen Chbosky to write an adapted screenplay and to direct the film. Filming is scheduled to begin in May 2011 in Pittsburgh.

Nina Dobrev is going a little crazy. The actress plays the dual roles of sweet, innocent Elena and evil, naughty vampire Katherine on the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” which finally will return Jan. 27 with a new episode. It’s a challenging job that at one point this season called for Dobrev to play opposite herself during a tense heart-to-heart between Elena and Katherine, as well as play Katherine during her human days in 1400s Bulgaria, Katherine masquerading as a Brit and Katherine as a newly made vampire all in one episode.

It’s not easy, and I think I’m slowly becoming a schizophrenic because of it,” Dobrev said during the CW’s Kick-Ass Women panel at the TCA Press Tour last week. At a cocktail party after the event, she spoke further with a small group of reporters, including Show Tracker, about getting to play two such diametrically opposed characters. Elena, I get to do a lot of emotional scenes. She goes through such a roller-coaster ride,” she said. “With Katherine, I just get to [mess] with everyone. I just get to play around and have fun and be bad and get away with things that all throughout my life I’ve been taught by my parents not to do. Now I get paid for it.

But it might not stop with Elena and Katherine. Could Dobrev be playing a third character at some point? “Hypothetically,” she said. “Because Katherine is the first doppelganger, that means there was one before her. So I guess we’ll what happens.” She’s up for the challenge too even though she’s got her hands “very full right now” with two roles. “I’m sure it would be interesting,” she said.

Nina has admitted that she accidentally scared a young fan of The Vampire Diaries. Speaking on Lopez Tonight, the actress explained that the viewer believed she was her alter ego Katherine.

“I play Elena, who’s the sweet girl next door, and then I play Katherine, who’s this manipulative, kind of confident, spontaneous crazy girl. There was this one case where I had this little girl and her mum come up to me and her mum was like, ‘Hey, look, honey, it’s the girl from The Vampire Diaries – it’s Elena’. And the girl looked at me because I was wearing this big period dress that Katherine normally wears, and she said, ‘No, mummy, no, no, no, that’s Katherine. I don’t want to go near her, she’s going to bite me’. She was this little girl and she was so cute and she was running away and I just wanted to hug her and I couldn’t.”

Also we’re working on getting high definition screencaptures of Nina’s adorable guest appearance on Lopez Tonight on November 17, 2010. Sorry we’re taking a bit long but it was a bit hard to get it in HD.

They play vampires and shapeshifters in some of today’s hottest films and TV shows. But what scares the casts of Paranormal Activity 2, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Twilight? The Hollywood Reporter checked in with the stars and learned what still gives them the creeps.

Nina Dobrev, who plays two characters on The Vampire Diaries, says that’s nothing compared to her fear of blood.

“Ironically enough, I’m very squeamish when it comes to blood,” said Dobrev, who noted that The Ring and the Saw movies “terrify” her. “Even on set, there was a scene I had to do where I cut my wrist on camera and it took every little bit of energy and strength that I had because your veins are so exposed. Every person is so fragile and it’s so easy to get hurt, it just freaks me out.”

In site news, we’d like to apologize if we’ll delay adding hd screencaptures this week cause our internet doesn’t work very well since here there was a storm and now sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t so until the issue will be solved we’re afraid we won’t be able to upload high definition screencaptures. We’ll try our best though, thank you so much for visiting the site everyday! You guys are seriously amazing!

What turned The Vampire Diaries Katherine Pierce (aka Katerina Petrova) into a cold-blooded killer? Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine/Katerina) says we’ll find out on the November 11 episode when the action flashes back to 1490s Bulgaria.

“We find out how she became a vampire and what led her to become the person she is today — a selfish, maniacal woman who only looks out for herself,” says Nina, who was born in Bulgaria and speaks Katherine’s native tongue. How she’s turned is a big secret, as is the identity of a new menace we’ll meet from the same era, who will journey to present-day Mystic Falls.
“This villain has ties to the deep, deep past of the vampire legend,” teases executive producer Julie Plec. “And then in our last episode before the holidays [December 9], we’ll finally see poor Tyler Lockwood’s torturous transformation into a werewolf.”

We love Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec not only because she has the coolest job on the planet, but also because she’s a Twitter-loving superfan just like us. We caught up with the plucky producer to get deets and ask a few fan questions. Because she’s super generous with her time, Julie also offered up even more info on all things Mystic Falls. Here are the juiciest bits from our convo!

What are Nina Dobrev’s days like when she’s playing both Elena and Katherine?
Julie: They are brutal. Truth be told. And Nina and her workload is one of the things that we always have to look out for. When she’s playing double duty in an episode that’s very Katherine and Elena heavy then she’s in every scene and it’s hard for her. She loves it. But it can take its toll. So we try to schedule it so that she can be Elena one day and Katherina another day just so that she gets to be in the same character headspace and not have to swap around. But sometimes the schedule doesn’t accommodate that and she’ll be Elena in the morning and Katherina after lunch.

What are the hours like?
Julie: Well, it’s the same schedule. It’s just sometimes, unfortunately, we shoot less because we need more time to change our actress over. Change her look over. Fortunately both characters comes to Nina very naturally. So she’s able to roll with the punches very well. She’s doing a phenomenal job.

True that. We’ve been plotting the differences between Katherine and Elena — her hair, walk, makeup, voice, etc. What will be a new difference that we will notice soon?
Julie: Let me think about that. [pause] Well, the fun of the next two episodes is actually seeing Katherine making more of an effort to embrace and adopt Elena’s wardrobe and hair and having some fun with that. She’s been studying Elena. And she’s very focused on trying to get her look right. In “Masquerade” [which airs October 28] we get to see Katherine trying to pass as Elena again.

So she’ll be walking in flats…
Julie: As Nina likes to say: Katherine’s a skinny jeans girl. So it’s jeans and boots versus Elena’s flared leg and chucks. But I think in the next episode the difference really shows when Katherine’s just kicking it as Katherine. She’s got the big luscious curls and her smoky-smoky eyes and black catsuits and her slinky walk and all the fun she gets to have with that. But then when we see Katherine as Elena, there’s also little things: an extra layer of hairpieces in there to fill out her hair a bit, a tiny bit of extra eyeliner. Subtle, smoky changes. And Katherine’s slightly more careful in her carriage when she’s pretending to be Elena. So there’s little differences. And then of course there’s the necklace. Katherine wears her lapis lazuli necklace and Elena wears the Vervain necklace that Stefan gave her.

Bulgaria-born Nina Dobrev, who gained popularity in the United States as the beautiful young girl caught between two vampire brothers inThe Vampire Diaries, is about to take viewers back to the 15th century in her native country. The new episode will be set in Bulgaria, the birthplace of Nina Dobrev who plays Katherine and Elena.

“The episode that we start shooting on Tuesday is set around 1490 – and in Bulgaria,” producer Julie Plec said at New York Comic-Con over the weekend. “We’ve talked about wanting to show Katherine’s origin story, and it is cool.”

Viewers learned a couple weeks ago that Katherine’s original last name was “Petrova,” and fellow producer Kevin Williamson says they plan to depict how this character “came to become who she was.”
Born in Bulgaria, Nina Dobrev moved to Canada at the age of 2 and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and in Atlanta, Georgia, where “The Vampire Diaries” was filmed.

Ian Somerhalder has revealed that Damon and Stefan will start working together on The Vampire Diaries. Speaking to E! Online, Somerhalder explained that the brothers will team up for the sake of Elena (Nina Dobrev) and the rest of the town.
There’s camaraderie because Damon and Stefan know that in order to protect themselves, Elena and the town from werewolves and Katherine, they have to set these differences aside,” he said. Somerhalder also suggested that Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) do care about each other.
These two have had every opportunity to kill each other and they can’t do it,” he said. “They love each other.” The Vampire Diaries continues on Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

Actors are often given the opportunity to present bizarro versions of their character for one or two episodes (Vampire Willow on “Buffy,” Red Kryptonite Clark on “Smallville”) but rarely does a show give its star the chance to bring two completely separate, full formed characters to life. Yet that’s exactly what “The Vampire Diaries‘” done this season as Nina Dobrev has been masterfully playing Elena Gilbert and her as-yet-unexplained ancestor Katherine Pierce. The latter also happens to be the most vicious and vindictive vampire we’ve seen on the show so far. So, ya know, not an effortless transition. Tonight’s episode — titled “Memory Lane” — presents Nina with her toughest challenge to date as she’s required to not only play present day versions of both, but slip back into a hoopskirt and shed light on Katherine’s 1864 life. I caught up with the never busier Nina (she was eating lunch, while having her makeup done and talking to me) about the toll all this double duty is taking on her, how excited she is about season two and what surprises lie in the past.

PopWrap: Before we get into the show, you Tweeted about getting injured on set. How are you feeling?
Nina: I’m starting to do better now. I was getting run down with all the long hours, stuntwork and stress of the show. I was holding all this tension in my back, overcompensated and pinched all these nerves. My back was spazming and I couldn’t move. I was put on bed rest for a while so now I’m better than ever. Back on set kicking some more butt.

PW: I’ll say — watching you pull double duty this season. Has it been fun playing two characters full time?
Nina: It’s been really intense but in a good way. Every single day is a constant challenge and I’m never bored or just sitting around. I’m always being stimulated and these characters are so much fun. Going through all the different shades of playing sweet Elena while also being so ambiguous, spontaneous and crazy as Katherine – it’s really, really cool.

By the end of the season, HBO’s True Blood left Bon Temps infested with vampires, werewolves, werepanthers, shape shifters, shamans, fairies and witches. I asked the cast of The Vampire Diaries, which is bringing werewolves to Mystic Falls, what other creatures they’d like to see terrorize their town.

Ian Somerhalder (Damon): “Morena Baccarin’s lizard alien from V. If a lizard that hot showed up, Damon would definitely have to have a bite.”
Nina Dobrev (Elena): “A dragon from Harry Potter. The fire they breathe out could kill our vampires.”
Paul Wesley (Stefan): “Steven McQueen could turn into a unicorn overnight.”
Katerina Graham (Bonnie): “Leprechauns. We could use some luck in Mystic Falls.”
Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy): “The vampire thing has become too much. We’ve got to move on to Frankenstein, with the bolts in the neck.”
Matt Davis (Alaric): “A giant octopus could give the show a cool 1950s horror-movie feel.”

As if “The Vampire Diaries” heroine Nina Dobrev  didn’t have enough on her plate. Last season, her character Elena was torn between two of the hottest vampires broadcast television has ever seen.
This year, Nina’s got her own set of fangs as she gears up to bring Katherine Pierce, Elena’s evil vampire doppelganger, back to life.
We met Katherine in a series of flashbacks last year, but if the shocking Season 1 finale taught us anything, it’s that we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of our new favorite villain. I caught up with Dobrev on the Vampire Diaries set in Atlanta and couldn’t resist gushing a bit about her performance. As sweet as she is, Nina doesn’t miss a beat playing the conniving back-stabber.
With all the attention that Katherine is getting as we gear up for Season 2, I didn’t want to forget about Elena, either. I had to ask Nina — if Damon (Ian Somerhalder) really had kissed Elena instead of Katherine, would Elena have kissed him back?
“I mean, I’m sure Elena has had dreams about Damon,” Dobrev says. “I’m not sure if she was put in the position to kiss him what she would do. I feel like she has high morals, and she loves Stefan (Paul Wesley). It’s always been Stefan.”
Don’t expect those dreams to come true any time soon, vamp fans. “I think that Elena’s feelings for Damon are still friendly,” Dobrev says. “She’s concerned about him, and she definitely cares about him, but she and Stefan have been through so much. She wants to make that work.”
